Yesterday at the URI swim center, 3 EWG young ladies competed as an "independent" swim team representing EWG. In a field of 28 teams, EWG placed 15th.
Freshman Tara Hart, in her first high school meet placed 15th in the 100 yard backstroke. Sophomore Sydney Cooper paced 16th in the 200 IM, and then won a medal as she placed 8th in the 100 Breaststroke. Finally, senior Cassie Jones, won two medals placing third in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 Freestyle. Come cheer on these EWG swimmers on Feb. 26th at URI as they compete in the RI State Championships.
Congratulations to the Wrestling team for their outstanding performance at Saturday’s wrestling tournament at Pilgrim H.S. Taking 1st place was Christian LaBrie, Andrew LaBrie, and Carl Neff. Taking second place was Joey Ricciutti. Gary Benedettit won Third Place . Wrestlers who placed 4th were Richard Satchwill, Ben Holcomb, Dwight Anderson, and Ian Geyer.
Congratulations to Katey Acquaro (Gold Key) Meg Breshenhan (Gold Key) and Annie Dwyer (Silver Key) for their win in the state art scholastics competition. This is our toughest event and these students won!
