- Congratulations to the Hockey Team for their win on Saturday against Scituate. Nicole Wilbur scored two goals and Kavon Shakoori had 15 saves in the net. Great team playing by Justin Lake, Troy Sankey and Dan Vogel. Teams next game is Friday at 9:30pm at Thayer Ice Rink and Saturday @ 6:30 pm at West Warwick.

EWG Boys' Football team was victorious last night against North Smithfield, winning 44-38 in double-overtime. The Scarlet Knights' football team advances to the Division IV championship this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Cranston Stadium. Click on the link to get directions to the game.

The EWG/West Warwick co-op Hockey team would like to thank both the School Committees and the Administrators who worked expeditiously on putting a contract together so the team could be approved. We would also like to thank the community and businesses who purchased tickets or donated to the team. Thanks also, to Dan’s Place for allowing the team to hang out and collect donations. In a short period of time we raised a lot of money towards our goal. Without everyone’s help this could not be done. Thanks again for your help and hope to see you at the games!

Congratulations to the girls' volleyball team for their 3-0 victory over Barrington last night. The girls now advance to the semi-finals tomorrow night at URI. They will play West Warwick at 7:30pm. Be sure to be there.

At the end of this program, our school will receive a check in the amount that we have earned, and will be put towards the Class of 2012. Be sure to choose West Greenwich, RI and then, Senior High School. We need your support to help raise money for the Class of 2012. Thank you for all you do for our students.

At Saturday’s Brown Northeast Cross Country Championship, Captain Amy Cunningham placed 1st in RI with a new school record of 19:55. Freshmen Mike Dampier and Don Galloway placed in the top hundred in a race of 500 competitors. Congratulations to our EWG runners!
DECA Students there will be a brief but mandatory meeting today after school in Mr. Krom’s room regarding DECA so please make every effort to attend!

-Next week is spirit week. Be sure to show your class and school spirit by participating. Monday- Twin Day Tuesday- Sports Day Wednesday- Character Day Thursday- Decades Day (Fresh-50, Soph-60, Jun-70,Sen-80) Friday-Class Color Day (Fresh-gray, Soph-white, Jun-red, Sen.-Black) Friday is also the pep rally and the spirit day activities. Be sure to sign up for activities at lunch to represent your class.
-On Tuesday, student council elections were held. Congratulations to Angela Russo, student council president, Katey Acquaro is vice president, Korina Lopez is recording secretary, Kathryn Defrense is corresponding publicity secretary, and Matthew French is school committee representative. Congrats to all board members make our school proud!
-Attention prison ballers get your money and info in to Mr. Krom or Mrs. Kennedy asap!
-If you are interested in going on the senior trip, the $50 deposit is due by Friday Nov. 5th.
-Attention the rock show sign ups are due October 22nd. Please hand in your completed form to Grasa Campbell or Cara Woloohojian ASAP to guarantee a spot for your band.

Attention music lovers, the rock show is coming up, so bands please give your completed sign-up sheets to Grasa Campbell asap.
- There will be a very important yearbook meeting on Wed. Oct. 6th at 1:45 in room S208. We will be hosting a photography workshop for all aspiring yearbook photographers hosted by Catherine Hellman Photography. Please sign up with Mrs. Kennedy in S208 prior to Oct. 6th so we can arrange for cameras- and the space will be limited. The workshop will last approximately until 3:00 pm so please make appropriate after school pickup arrangements. All yearbook club members MUST attend this very important workshop. See you Wed. Oct. 6th at 1:45 pm in S206.

- The 3rd Annual EWG Spooktacular is approaching! This year it will take place on Friday, October 29th. The Fine Arts Dept. will be hosting the event, located in the vicinity of the art rooms. We will have the Street Painting Contest again, judged at 5 pm- open to adult/alumni and secondary students. At 5:30 pm the award winning EWG Chamber Singers will perform on the Arts Terrace. At 6:15- the incredibly artistic carved pumpkins will be judged. Multiple people can sponsor one artist ($10 a square). You get to pick the theme. Past themes: movie/Psycho, Dead Poet's Society, Day of the Dead, Macbeth, Money for the Arts (Bob Ross sponsor), Greek mythology, choice of artist, etc.
- Profits will benefit the EWG chapter of the National Art Honor Society and provide some cash prizes for the artists participating. Please consider sponsoring a street square (located at sidewalk by art rooms). I have some AMAZING talent ready for the challenge. -The debate club is changing their meeting day to Fridays. Practices will be held in the cafeteria after school. There will be a practice this Friday, so if you are interested, show up to see an example debate.
-Attention Seniors remember to sell your entertainment books. They are a large fundraiser for our class. The cost of each book is $35. National Honor Society is hosting a school supply drive from September 1st to the 10th. Members this is a great way to earn community service hours. Donations will go to elementary schools in Central Falls. New and gently used notebooks, folders, pens pencils, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Yearbook club will meet on Wednesday afternoons in S208 after school. First mtg is next Wednesday 9/8. All are welcome.
The welcome breakfast for new students will be next Wednesday, September 8th. Students will receive invitations and teachers will be notified via email.
Attention all students! The Welcome Back Dance will be next Friday, September 10th from 7-10 in the courtyard. Tickets will be sold at all lunches from Thursday, September 2nd until Sept 9th. Tickets are $7.00 and all guests and breathalyzer paperwork is available at the ticket table. This must be turned in order to attend the dance. Ninth graders please hand in breathalyzers forms to the office. If you have a breathalyzer on file it is good until you graduate!

To all who like to sing- come and join the EWG Chamber Singers! We are having INFORMAL auditions next week on Monday and Wednesday after school. There will be a sign up sheet posted outside the chorus room door. It will only take about 5 minutes. Pick any song you want to sing for me. Chamber Singers. Rehearsals will begin the following Monday, September 13th. Meetings on Mondays and Wednesday from 1:45-3:00. If you can’t make it next Monday or Wednesday for the informal audition, talk to Mr. Runner and we will setup a special appointment for you.

- Seniors: Graduation rehearsal today and tomorrow at 12:15 pm in the Auditorium. Wednesday Seniors report to school by 8:30 am to be taken by bus to URI for rehearsals. Do not wear your cap and gown to URI. Students going to Sr. banquet will be taken by bus to Atlantic Beach Club. Students not attending the banquet will be taken by bus back to school.
- Any seniors who have not yet ordered a yearbook and would like one should see Mrs. Kennedy . The cost is $65.00 and are first come first serve.
- Congratulations to the softball team playoff win against West Warwick yesterday 2 to 0 . Come support the team tomorrow night at 7:30 at RIC when they play Barrington
- Congratulations to Lauren Woloohojian for placing second in the hammer competition at a state track meet Wednesday, with a throw of 108 ft. Also good luck to Erica Vincent who will be competing in states. Congratulations to everyone on the track team, it was a great year and you all worked very hard this season.
- Just a reminder that our monthly Boosters Meeting will be held tonight June 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Teacher’s Room. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Congratulations to the Girls JV softball team for an exciting come from behind victory over Prout 4-3 on Friday. With 1 out and the bases loaded, Maddy St. Andre drove in the winning run. Michaela Paiva pitched an excellent game.

In Boys tennis Ryan Gouveia and Sean Farrell continued their undefeated seasons. Brandan Dumican improved to 3-1 in the season. EWG valiant effort came up a little short as they lost to first place Middletown 4-3. No practice today, please try to attend Prison Ball. T-shirt money is due Friday before the match with Mount Hope. The bus leaves at 2:15pm.
Attention Jr. NHS members Ms. Arvidson needs to know what offices you are runinng for by 7:30 on Friday, April 16th.

A family in the south of France would like to host an American teen age boy this summer at their home, if that teen’s family agrees to host their son next summer. The parents are teachers, the family loves sports, especially soccer and lives10 minutes from the beach. Another French family has a 19 year old daughter who would like to work “au pair” for an American family for 4 months. If you are interested and want to know more, see Madame Greboval in Room 213. All students thinking about travel to France and Canada next school year should stop by to chat, too! Merci.

Congratulations to the Exeter/West Greenwich Senior High Chorus for receiving Excellent scores at this year’s Rhode Island Music Educators Association Chorus Festival. The adjudicating is very rigorous and the singers represented our school with a high level of musicianship. Great job singers!

Announcing a spring COAT DRIVE: The National Honor Society at the high school is holding a coat drive now until April 29th. All sizes and types are welcome! So as you and your family outgrow your gently used coats, donate them to those in need. All coats can be brought to the senior high office for Kelsey Shank and/or Miss Arvidson, the NHS advisor. Thank you for helping our fellow Rhode Islanders in need.
The oral presentation portion of the Senior Project will take place on Thursday, May 20, 2010. Students are to be assessed by faculty and community members. We would like to have at least one community member serve as a judge on each of the 35 panels. Judges would need to be available from 11:30-2:00pm on that date as well as attend a training either on the same day (11:00-11:30) or Monday, May 17th from 6:00-6:30pm. If you have judged in the past it is not necessary to attend the training. If your child is a senior this year we ask that you not judge. If you are willing to judge please contact Tonya LeCour via e-mail or phone.

The boy’s volleyball team has their first home game tonight versus Pilgrim, their rival. JV starts 4:30 and Varsity starts at 6:30 in the Senior High Gym. The team is considered one of the top teams in the state this year. So come to support your team as they try for a state championship.

Senior product assessments scheduled has been rescheduled for Thursday.
There will be a dedication of the softball field to coach Messier at Lineham filed today at 3:30. Hope to see everyone there. First home softball game to follow at 4 o’clock.

Congratulations to the boys track team on their performance in the first meet of the season. Brett Hughes came in 2nd in the 3000 meters at a time of 10:09. Matt French scored in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 22.1 seconds. Ryan Santagata placed second in long jump with a leap of 16’6 and he also took first place in javelin with a throw of 123’! Trevor Tougas finished 6th over all in the 200pm with a time of 29.2 seconds. Excellent first-time effort! Tom Clements finished somewhere around 5th in shot put with a throw of 30’ 3” and proved that distance runners can beat up on throwers! There is still tome to come out for boys’ track. Go to the front page of the senior high site, click on the triangle next to sports, then “Outdoor Track”.
Attention all juice pouch drinkers and chip eaters! Next to the trash barrels at all lunches there will be a labeled bins to throw your drink pouches and bags into. Derek Hellested’s senior project is creating this special recycling program that will raise money to be put towards the Stephan J. Anderson Track. Please help Derek with his senior and help the school raise money to finish the track. If you have any questions ask Derek. You can also collect things from home and bring them in.

The Academic Decathlon Team competed and the team scored 5 medals. It was a 13 plus hours day and we are all exhausted but in the end it was worth it.

This past weekend was an incredible one for many of our student musicians. The Allstate Festival Concerts were held at Rhode Island College yesterday. There were almost 8 hours of performances in three concerts. Prior to that, on Friday and Saturday there were over 16 hours of rehearsals for groups such as the Honors Band and Honors Chorus, The Junior Allstate Band, The Junior Allstate Chorus, The Senior Allstate Band, The Senior Allstate Orchestra, and The Senior Allstate Chorus. Wow! EWG had kids in all of those groups. The artistic display at these performances was of the highest caliber making for some of the most moving musical experiences for the audience and the musicians. Congratulations goes out to all involved:

This Saturday night is Comedy Night. Our goal this year is to raise the funds for the track's rubberize surface. If you have not done so as of yet, and could help us out by buying the raffle ticket that would be very much appreciated.

YAM (Youth Art Month)SHOW this Wednesday!!! 6PM in the High School Library gallery- we will have BIG art- monumental charcoal portraits (3ft X 5FT) as well as a Senior Port sculpture installation that will be seen state-wide. Please come and see the work of our EWG visual art students.
At 7PM in the HS Auditorium-celebrate Music in our Schools Month and the end of this long, cold winter at the End of Winter Chorus Concert. Award winning EWG Choruses and Chamber Singers will perform some beautiful selections including "The River Sleeps Beneath the Sky" Mozart's "Alleluia" and "O Sifuni Mungu". Join us for a pleasant evening and celebrate the talents. Concert is free of charge for all studens/kids/and staff. Parents are $5.00 a ticket, everyone else is free.
There are some seats left if you are able to join us. Tickets are available in the office and I will be collecting the raffle tickets on Friday at each school. Thank you for your consideration and support.

Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday night and Friday morning. Please make sure your son/daughter brings in the sign up form to their teachers today and Tuesday.
If you purchased a class ring pick up will be Thursday morning. No rings will be picked up unless balance is paid in full.
Boy’s track practice is canceled this week.
Girl’s track practice starts today from 3-5pm. Be ready to run!

VAASA students if you have not brought in your field trip form and money to Mrs. Holland, Make sure to get it in by Tuesday. Any students who does not get it in by Tuesday will be unable to attend the training/field trip.
